GOV. DIRI: STOP THE PROPAGANDA WAR AGAINST SEN. DICKSON  (Dr. John Idumange

●Diri should address the governance deficit in the State
●●● Propaganda will work against him

By any standard, the incumbent governor of Bayelsa State worked for the Restoration administration. He is also the biggest beneficiary of the system. I had raised alarm about the ingratitude of Gov. Diri to his benefactor, Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson.

Here are three ways he has betrayed Dickson

1. Non-disclosure of Assets and liabilities
SDD started out by refusing to declare the assets and liabilities he inherited from HSD. Instead, he started out by spreading the propaganda that fifty six thousand naira (N56,000) was what he inherited. This piece of propaganda was firmly planted for two reasons:
■ Portray him as a governor who owed so much money, which he Diri would not disclose.

■ To instigate Bayelsans against him.
Dickson had already prepared his handover notes to the APC government before the Supreme Court judgement. So much was handed over to him. SDD should speak the truth.

2. Employment: Another wild propaganda SDD has consistently peddled in Bayelsa State is that HSD employed too many people thereby increasing the wage bill. This wretched lie has also sunk into the subconscious of some Bayelsans. HSD did several staff verifications, executed the Civil Service Reforms before employing Bayelsans into the Civil Service, which he HSD started paying before he handed over to SDD. Dickson also established several institutions before creating jobs for Bayelsans. I expect Diri to publish the wage bill of the State for all to see. Diri should create institutions and employ more of our youths.

3. Underfunding of Basic Education: Sen. Disckson raised the bar of educational accomplishments. Only in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, we can draw attention to three standard ( MODEL) schools namely:
■ The Ijaw National Academy
■ The Institute of Sports at Asoama, and
■ Kaiama Grammar School upgraded to a model school by Dickson. Please, those who are familiar with the Ijaw National Academy should go there and see for themselves and compare the standard now with what it used to be.
Let me state unequivocally that when governance is planked on half-truths or outright falsehood, it bears the seeds of its own destruction. Governor Diri should stop poisoning the minds of Bayelsans against Dickson. Some objective minds know the truth. SDD should concentrate on delivering good governance to our people. For the avoidance of doubt Senator Dickson left office more than two years ago. When will Governor Diri take charge and leave Dickson alone? Enough of the propaganda!
