Chief Pastor Reuben Wilson Congratulates New UNIUYO VC, Prof Ekong

 

The Governing Council of University of Uyo has officially announced the appointment of Professor Chris Ekong as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

Professor Ekong, a respected scholar from the Department of Economics in the Faculty of Social Sciences, was confirmed following the Council’s decision, signaling a new chapter in the leadership of the Akwa Ibom State-based university. His emergence has been widely acknowledged as a testament to his academic excellence, administrative competence, and years of dedicated service.

In his reaction , Chief Pastor Reuben, founder of the Pastor Reuben Initiative for Good leadership and accountability through his Director media congratulated the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, describing him as a capable and visionary leader. He expressed confidence that Professor Ekong would bring innovation, stability, and growth to the university.

Pastor Reuben also a member governing Council university of Uyo Akwa Ibom state highlighted Professor Ekong’s role as the Akwa Ibom State strong member of the Asiwaju Group (TAG), and the Reuben initiative noting his contributions to leadership and grassroots development beyond academia.

Members of the academic community and stakeholders have continued to commend the appointment, expressing optimism that Professor Ekong’s tenure will strengthen institutional development and elevate the global reputation of the University of Uyo.

Professor Ekong is expected to assume office in accordance with the university’s transition schedule
