Association of Movie producers Nigeria (AMP) Bayelsa State Chapter Calls on Movie Makers, Actors to Be Vigilant, Extolls the Sterling Leadership Qualities of Madam President on Her Birthday
The Chairman, Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria, AMP Bayelsa state Chapter Jerry Maxwell Opoikumo has called on movie producers and actors to be vigilant over fraudulent activities in the movie industry especially in Bayelsa State.
Comrade Maxwell Jerry Opoikumo came out with this after the association’s monthly general meeting for the month of March held at the Nostelgea Cinema, Yenagoa.
Comrade Opoikumo used the medium to call on intending producer to register with the Association of Movie Producers saying that unregistered producers will no longer upload their films on YouTube due to the deliberate partnership between the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) and the online market.
He said this is part of the policy of the National Film and Video Censors Board to censor skits and short films adding that it will help regulate and avoid selling out the wrong information to the international community.
Opoikumo insisted that if you do not belong to any registered Association or Guild, your movie will not see the light of the day except you will watch it with your family at home.
The chairman adviced actors to be vigilante especially with unregistered producers who come to contract them for a movie job explaining that they must confirm if such producer is a registered one to avoid scam.
In his words, ‘These days, we have so many fake movie producers parading themselves as Movie producers collecting monies from actors all in the name of using them for a movie roles; but when such persons are caught, they will face the law.’
The Secretary of the Association, Mr Martins P. Zidebegha applauded Mr Chairman for his proactive nature in handling the affairs of the Association because the Association is a Big Boy Association not for anyhow persons that we don’t force people to register but note that if you are not a member, you can’t Censor your movie and even show your movie at the Cinema.
Comrade Jerry used the opportunity to extol the sterling leadership qualities of the National President of the Association, Barrister Peace Anyiam-Osigwe – MFR, for her selfless services to ensure the Association move forward and used the meeting to also celebrate her on her Happy Birthday.
