2027: Hon. Paul Congratulates Agbalaje, Urges Party Unity Ahead of BYHA Election

Hon. Clement Ovokeroye Paul has congratulated Hon. Agbalaje Lucky on his emergence as the consensus aspirant for Sagbama Constituency 1 in the forthcoming Bayelsa State House of Assembly 2027 elections, ahead of the party primaries scheduled for May 21, 2026.

In a statement made available to the press, Hon. Paul described Agbalaje’s emergence as a welcome development and a significant step toward strengthening party’s cohesion and ensuring electoral success in the constituency.

He urged his supporters, the people of Ofoni Community, and the entire Sagbama Constituency 1 to rally behind Agbalaje’s candidature, emphasizing that the project has now become a collective responsibility of all party members.

While extending his congratulations, Hon. Paul expressed satisfaction that his long-standing advocacy for Ward 3 to produce a representative in the State Assembly; an agitation he noted began in 2015 is gradually coming to fruition.

He commended the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, and the Deputy Governor, Peter Perotubo Akpe, for listening to the aspirations of the Ward 3 people and supporting the cause.

Demonstrating sportsmanship and party loyalty, Hon. Paul reiterated his steadfast commitment to a genuine cause, stressing that he would not relent in supporting a credible candidate projected by the party. He recalled his active role as Director of Media during Agbalaje’s 2015 House of Assembly bid under the platform of the National Conscience Party (NCP), and his continued advocacy for a Ward 3 candidate in the 2019 election cycle, which he recently reactivated.

Acknowledging the competitive nature of the primaries, Hon. Paul said he participated in the exercise knowing that only one aspirant would ultimately secure the party ticket, as such it is both strategic and necessary for party members to consolidate support behind the consensus aspirant for the greater good of the constituency and the unity of the party.

He further called on other aspirants to demonstrate maturity and commitment to the party’s success by collapsing their political structures in support of Hon. Agbalaje’s candidacy.

Hon. Paul concluded by once again appreciating the state leadership for their decision and urging all stakeholders to work collectively to ensure victory for the party in the 2027 elections.

His words: “I heartily congratulate Hon. Lucky Agbalaje on his emergence as the consensus aspirant for Sagbama Constituency 1. This development is not just a personal victory for him but a collective milestone for Ward 3 and the entire constituency.

“For over a decade, I have championed the cause for Ward 3 to produce a representative in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, and I am deeply fulfilled to see this aspiration gaining the recognition it deserves. I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri and His Excellency, Pastor Peter Pereotubo Akpe Ph.D for their responsiveness to the yearnings of our people.

“As a loyal party man, I call on my supporters, the good people of Ofoni, and all stakeholders across the constituency to queue behind Hon. Agbalaje. The task before us now is not individual ambition but collective victory.

“I also appeal to fellow aspirants to demonstrate unity by collapsing their structures into that of our consensus candidate once the process is finalised. Together, we can deliver a resounding victory for our party and ensure that the voice of Sagbama Constituency 1 is strong and united,” Paul concluded. — with Tony Adams and 7 others.
