Political Impersonation: Accord Party Blasts Ibadan Coalition, Issues 48-Hour Ultimatum

The National Chairman of the Accord Party, Professor Chris Imumolen, has demanded immediate clarification from leading political actors including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and Seyi Makinde , as well as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)over the unauthorized use of the Accord Party’s identity in a purported coalition unveiled in Ibadan.

Prof. Imumolen described the inclusion of the Accord Party’s flag in the so-called coalition as political impersonation, not a misunderstanding.
He made it unequivocally clear: the Accord Party is not part of any coalition with the ADC, PDP, or any aligned bloc , and at no point authorized the use of its name, symbol, or platform in such an arrangement.

“This is not an oversight; it is a misrepresentation. The Accord Party will not be dragged into alliances it neither negotiated nor approved.”
The party warned that what played out in Ibadan raises serious questions about the credibility and transparency of the coalition itself, if it must lean on the identity of parties that are not even at the table.

Reaffirming its independent political direction, the Accord Party stated it remains focused on the 2027 general elections, with a clear ambition to present a presidential candidate under its own banner , not as a footnote in a hastily assembled coalition.

Prof. Imumolen has therefore issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the conveners and participants of the Ibadan meeting to publicly explain how and why the Accord Party’s identity was used without consent.

Failure to do so, he said, will trigger immediate legal action against all individuals and groups involved.

“You cannot borrow legitimacy by force. Those responsible must either explain themselves or prepare to defend their actions in court.”
The Accord Party insists it will vigorously protect its identity, structure, and political independence, and will not tolerate any attempt subtle or brazen , to appropriate its platform for political convenience.

As Nigeria moves toward 2027, the party maintains that it will engage Nigerians on its own terms, not through manufactured alignments or backdoor coalitions.
