Yorubas reveal the aspect of their culture they do not like

Some X users who are of the Yoruba tribe have shared an aspect of their culture that they don’t like.

One X user named Oluwatosin wrote: “One of the Yoruba cultures I hate with passion is calling a small girl or boy aunty or uncle just because I married into your family when I am way older than them. It irritates me! This is the height of hypocrisy for me.”

Others agreed with her while calling for the culture to be erased.

In the Yoruba culture, a wife is expected to show respect to everyone in her husband’s family, including those younger than her. She is expected to add “Aunty” or “Uncle” to their names.
