WATCH VIDEO
The Billboard Owners Association of Bayelsa State wishes to inform the general public that in the early hours of today, June 7, 2025, at approximately 5:00am, a young man identified as Godknows was apprehended while vandalizing one of our member’s billboards located at Opolo Roundabout, along Isaac Boro Expressway, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The suspect was immediately handed over to officers of the Bayelsa State Police Command (Operation Dou Akpo) for further investigation. The arrest was made possible through swift action from a member and security cooperation in the area, with clear evidence linking the suspect to the crime.
It is important to note that the Association has in recent times suffered serious setbacks due to repeated incidents of vandalism and theft. Hoodlums often tear down printed banners and billboard adverts materials that cost our members and their clients significant financial investment running to hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions, only to resell the flex printed materials/tarpaulins to people and local markets. This unfortunate trend has severely affected our operations and the trust we have built with our advertising clients.
As of now, the suspect remains in police custody and will be formally charged to court in the coming days.
The Chairman, Mr. Sylvester Sede, Excos and the entire members of the Billboard Owners Association of Bayelsa State, are using this medium to warn and appeal to the public, individuals or groups involved in these criminal acts to desist immediately. Let it be known that anyone caught henceforth will not only face the full wrath of the law, but will be decisively dealt with without hesitation.
We remain committed to protecting the integrity of the outdoor advertising industry in Bayelsa State and ensuring that all perpetrators of such criminal acts are brought to justice.
