The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) Bayelsa Chapter embarked on a STEM sensitization visit to Community Secondary School Ofoni, as part of its efforts to promote the study of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education among young students, particularly girls.

The visit, which took place on the 18th of June, 2025, led by the Chairman, Engr. Amalate Ann Obuebite Ph.D. FNSE., FNIPetE aimed to inspire and encourage students to pursue careers in STEM fields, highlighting the numerous opportunities and benefits available to them. The APWEN team, comprising professional women engineers, and graduate engineers, engaged the students in interactive career sessions, discussions, games, and hands-on activities designed to spark their interest in STEM.

During the visit, the APWEN team emphasized the importance of STEM education in addressing real-world problems and driving innovation. They shared their personal experiences, challenges, and successes as women in STEM fields, serving as role models and mentors to the students.

The students of Community Secondary School Ofoni participated enthusiastically in the activities, asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating a keen interest in STEM subjects.

The visit concluded with a call to action, encouraging the students to pursue their passion for STEM and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits. This was followed by a photo section with the students and teachers of the school.
