Southern Youth Leader, Lawuru, Mourns Pa Clark, Describes His Passing as the Loss of an Institution

The Leader of the Southern Youth Movement has described the passing of elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, as an irreplaceable loss to the nation, particularly to the Ijaw people and the Niger Delta region.
In a heartfelt condolence message, the youth leader stated that Pa Clark was not just a mortal being but an institution that symbolized nation-building, justice, and equity. His unwavering commitment to the struggles of the Niger Delta and his advocacy for the rights of minority groups made him a towering figure in Nigeria’s socio-political landscape.
“Pa Clark was an Iroko tree under whose shade generations of leaders, activists, and freedom fighters found guidance and direction. His words were not mere rhetoric; they were calls to action that shaped policies and influenced governance at the highest levels. His departure has created a void that will be difficult to fill,” the statement read.
Recognizing the inevitability of death, the youth leader urged all who mourn to find solace in God, praying for divine mercy upon the soul of the departed nationalist. “Though he has departed to the land of no return, his legacy will continue to inspire those who believe in justice, fairness, and the dignity of the Ijaw people and all oppressed communities,” he added.
The statement concluded with a final farewell: “Farewell, the Iroko tree. Your presence will be deeply missed, but your legacy will forever stand tall.”
