TOPIC: DILIGENCE – A PATHWAY OF DISTINCTION
SCRIPTURE: Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
Proverbs 22:29.

Our anchor Scriptures makes it clear that diligence is a pathway to distinction and eminence in life.
You must understand that anyone who gets a First Class grade in the university planned for it. Before he enrols in the university, he decides the grade he would graduate with.
So, when he gains admission into the university, as other students join campus cults, drink alcohol, go to night clubs and parties, he is focused on his studies. He came to the university with a decision to graduate with a First Class grade and that decision must be followed.
He monitors his grade from the first semester in the first year till the final year.
If for example, he gets a GPA of 4.2 in second semester in second year, he would not be excited about it. He would like to put in more efforts to make a least a GPA of 4.5 and above to make up for any previous decline in his grade. He would sit up and study more. He would discipline himself not to do the things that distract his focus. He makes the decision that he must graduate with a First Class grade and pays the price to get that grade. This is how to have distinction. This is what takes people up.
But when you see another person who is not serious about graduating with a distinction, he would say, “All I want is a Pass.” When he scores a GPA of 2, he would tell himself, “This is not too bad. At least I will graduate with a 2nd Class Lower grade.” It does not move him because he did not come to the university with a decision to maintain academic excellence.
The lesson here is, arriving at excellence is not by chance. It takes diligence to arrive at excellence; you must pay the price to get the prize. Diligence is the pathway to excellence and eminence.
REMEMBER THIS: Diligence is a pathway to excellence; diligence is a pathway to eminence.

1. Make up your mind to be diligent.
2. Determine to pay the price to arrive at the top.
