PRESS RELEASE FROM H.R.H CHIEF GODWILL AKEDESUO OF AMASSOMA COMMUNITY
His Royal Highness, Chief Godwill Akedesuo, the Acting Amananaowei of Amassoma has strongly condemned the brütal and unlawful k!ll!ng of Patrick Peresuodei, a son of Amassoma, allegedly carried out by Mr. Bodmas Kemepadei.
While addressing members of the press, His Royal Highness described the incident as a gruesome, unacceptable, and highly disrespectful act against the peace, unity, and collective dignity of the entire Amassoma Community. He emphasized that such an act stands completely against the values, culture, and long-standing hospitality for which Amassoma is known.
HRH Chief Godwill Akedesuo stated that Bodmas Prince Kemepadei is a graduate of the prestigious Niger Delta University, who lived peacefully in Amassoma for several years throughout his academic journey without experiencing any form of harm or hostility. After successfully completing his undergraduate studies, he proceeded to pursue a Master’s degree in Religious Studies at the same institution. Despite enjoying the warmth, accommodation, and goodwill of the Amassoma people, Bodmas chose to repay the community with violence by beating a young, promising youth of Amassoma to death, thereby committing a painful and unforgivable crime.
His Royal Highness further lamented that incidents involving the loss of innocent lives have occurred repeatedly in Amassoma. He noted that although the community has consistently shown tolerance, compassion, and openness to strangers, people from other communities have, on several occasions, taken the lives of Amassoma sons and daughters over minor and avoidable disputes. He stressed that this injustice will no longer be tolerated, as the Amassoma Community has resolved to pursue this matter legally and relentlessly until justice is fully served.
Consequently, His Royal Highness issued a strong call to the communities of Koluama 1 in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and Agoro in Sagbama Local Government Area, both in Bayelsa State, where Bodmas Kemepade is said to originate.
He demanded that they produce and hand over Mr. Bodmas Kemepadei to face the law. Failure to do so, he warned, will compel the Amassoma Community to take further lawful actions to protect its people and uphold justice.
In addition, Bodmas Kemepadei has been officially declared an enemy of the Amassoma Community. His Royal Highness further warned that any individual from Amassoma found to be associated with Bodmas Kemepade in cr!m!nal, cult!c, or idol-related activities must immediately withdraw. Anyone who fails to do so will equally be declared an enemy of Amassoma and treated accordingly.
He also made it clear that any person, whether an indigene of Amassoma or not, who was involved in this heinous act will face the full weight of the law, regardless of status or affiliation, as the community possesses clear and credible evidence.
Furthermore, His Royal Highness confirmed that a formal petition has already been submitted to the Commissioner of Police (CP) through the community’s legal representatives. As a result, Bodmas Kemepadei and members of his gang have been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force.
The Amassoma Community will stand firmly with the family of the deceased to ensure that justice is pursued to its logical conclusion.
In light of these developments, HRH Chief Godwill Akedesuo called on the Amassoma Youth Development Association (AYODA) Worldwide and its Yenagoa Chapter to suspend the protest earlier scheduled for Monday to the office of the Commissioner of Police. He assured the youths and the general public that the community is fully committed to ensuring that this case is thoroughly investigated and justice achieved. All actions taken, outcomes, and official updates will be promptly communicated to the public and published online.
Finally, His Royal Highness expressed his profound appreciation to external bodies, individuals, and organizations who have already shown concern and taken steps in support of justice. He urged all stakeholders to remain steadfast and law-abiding as collective efforts continue to ensure that justice prevails.
Thank you, good people of Nigeria.
Thank you, good people of Bayelsa State.
Thank you, good people of Amassoma Community.
Signed:
HRH Chief Godwill Akedesuo
Acting Amananaowei of Amassoma Community.
