Political Advocacy and Strategic Engagement: Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei Unveils Vision for Ijaw National Congress Presidency

YENAGOA — A frontline contender for the presidency of the Ijaw National Congress, High Chief Hon. Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei, has outlined an ambitious roadmap centered on political advocacy and strategic engagement as part of his campaign for the 2026 elections.
Speaking to stakeholders and supporters, Igbadiwei emphasized the need for a more proactive and coordinated approach in advancing the interests of the Ijaw people across Nigeria. He noted that the INC, as the apex socio-cultural body of the Ijaw nation, must reposition itself to effectively engage government institutions, development partners, and international organizations.
According to him, political advocacy would focus on ensuring that the voices of Ijaw communities are heard in key national conversations, particularly on issues relating to resource control, environmental justice, and regional development. He stressed that strategic engagement would involve building alliances, fostering dialogue, and strengthening relationships with critical stakeholders at all levels of governance.
“The Ijaw nation must not only speak but be heard and respected in the corridors of power. This requires deliberate engagement, unity of purpose, and consistent representation,” Igbadiwei stated.
The aspirant further pledged to promote inclusive participation, ensuring that youths, women, and professionals are integrated into the advocacy framework of the Congress. He also highlighted the importance of leveraging modern communication tools and policy-driven campaigns to project the interests of the Ijaw people globally.
Observers say his focus on structured advocacy and diplomacy reflects a shift toward a more institutional and forward-looking INC, capable of navigating the complexities of contemporary socio-political realities.
The 2026 INC election is expected to draw significant attention, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the emergence of a visionary leadership would strengthen the organization’s role in championing the welfare and aspirations of the Ijaw nation.
Igbadiwei concluded by reaffirming his commitment to service, transparency, and unity, promising to lead an INC that is both responsive and influential in shaping the future of the Niger Delta.
