JUNE 12th, 2025. DEMOCRACY DAY SOLIDARITY RALLY SPEECH
Today, as the National Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme Phase 2, I had the honour of leading our leaders and beneficiaries on a peaceful and powerful solidarity rally in celebration of June 12 — Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
We use this historic day to salute the resilience of our democracy and to congratulate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his committed, progressive, and inclusive leadership. Your Excellency, your continued strides in strengthening democratic governance and delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda are being felt across the nation, and especially in the Niger Delta.
We also deeply appreciate you for entrusting the leadership of key national development institutions to capable sons of the Niger Delta.
We sincerely thank and celebrate Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, whose dedication and visionary leadership have brought renewed strength, hope, and purpose to ex-agitators and the wider region. His tenure has been marked by transparency, peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and strategic development.
We also commend Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for his tireless efforts in implementing meaningful developmental projects and promoting sustainable peace across our communities. Under his leadership, the NDDC has made commendable progress in critical infrastructure, education, healthcare, and grassroots engagement.
Both of these distinguished sons of the Niger Delta have proven their worth as true ambassadors of peace and progress. Their synergy has continued to yield visible and lasting results, transforming lives and bringing stability to our once-troubled region.
As we mark this Democracy Day, we renew our commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable development. We will continue to support President Tinubu’s administration and uphold the vision of a better, stronger Niger Delta — one built on dialogue, inclusiveness, and opportunity for all.
