PDP Congresses in Bayelsa State Take Off Tuesday with Ward Exercises Across 105 Wards

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State will on Tuesday, March 3, commence its much-anticipated ward congresses across the 105 political wards in the state, marking the beginning of what party leaders have described as a strategic rebuilding process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), party faithful across the eight local government areas of Bayelsa were enjoined to actively participate in the exercise, which is expected to lay the groundwork for internal restructuring and renewed grassroots mobilization.
The ward congresses, scheduled to hold simultaneously across the state, will see members electing ward executives and reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the party’s base at the grassroots level. Party officials described the exercise as a “historic moment” aimed at consolidating unity and repositioning the PDP for future electoral contests.
According to the statement, the congresses form part of a broader strategy to reinvigorate the party’s structures, enhance internal democracy, and prepare for electoral victories in the coming political season, particularly the 2027 general elections.
The leadership further called on youths and women in Bayelsa to seize the opportunity to participate actively in the congress process, emphasizing inclusivity and generational renewal within the party’s ranks.
“Bayelsa youth and women, this is your time; take it; seize it,” the statement read, underscoring the party’s commitment to expanding participation and empowering emerging leaders.
Political observers note that the outcome of the ward congresses will set the tone for subsequent local government and state congresses, as the PDP intensifies efforts to maintain its dominance in Bayelsa’s political landscape.
