Pastor allegedly rapes 13-year-old girl seeking prayers in Akwa Ibom

Godson Nse Thompson, a 32-year-old prophet, is being held at the Uyo Correctional Centre in Akwa Ibom State for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl who was sent to him for intercessory prayers.

On Friday, July 10, 2020, a senior secondary one student at a government secondary school in Uyo said her in-law took her to a church on Information Drive in Uyo for prayers.

She revealed that shortly after her in-law (her sister’s husband) dropped her off at the church around 6 p.m., the prophet asked her to accompany him elsewhere to pray for someone, which she did.

According to the victim, the father of three children from Ikot Offiong Nsit in the Nsit Ibom Local Government Area took her to his house, gave her a black liquid substance to drink, and then raped her.

She also claimed that the Pastor forbade her from leaving the house, but she was able to flee when he forgot to lock the door, and she ran to a church.

The victim, who claimed she saw ladies panties of various colours and pictures of women inside the prophet’s house, also claimed she was bleeding from her private parts after the incident.

He (the suspect) invited me to get into the tricycle and said he was going to pray for two people, including me.

“As soon as we arrived, he prayed for the first and second people. After that, he and I walked to the main road, where he flagged down a tricycle, which we both boarded. The tricyclist came to a halt at one point, and the accused said I should wait for him.

He went into one of the compounds and led me to a room. He shut the door behind me and told me to undress.”

After hearing the victim’s story, Justice Bassey Nkanang, who presided over the case, adjourned the case until August 1, 2022 for a continuation of the trial.
