Miss Nollywood International Queen Hassana Ozohu Salisu & AGN saga

In a recent private interview, Miss Nollywood International Queen Hassana Ozohu Salisu shared her insights regarding the cancellation of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) elections in Kogi State. The elections, originally scheduled for August 2, 2025, are particularly significant as they represent the first AGN elections in the state’s history, deviating from the traditional selection process that has dominated leadership roles in the past.

The cancellation has left the Kogi State AGN community awaiting a decision from national leadership on whether the elections will be rescheduled or if a caretaker committee will assume control. Queen Hassana, who previously served as the Chairperson of the Northern Filmmakers Association of Nigeria (Abuja chapter), emphasized the challenges faced during the election planning and screening process. She noted that certain elderly members, who identify as AGN legendary and VIP members, opposed her leadership candidacy, despite meeting everyone test including the unecessary test they set up for them. citing a reluctance to be governed by a woman.
Highlighting the longstanding issue of leadership within AGN Kogi, Queen Hassana pointed out that past chairpersons have held their positions for over a decade without proper elections or membership registration. This lack of democratic process has led to what she describes as a “tyrannical leadership,” where decision-making is controlled by a few individuals who view AGN as their “ancestral property.”
As the elections approached, it became evident that an attempt was made to manipulate the voting process. She accused the former leadership of devising a scheme to restrict voting rights to only those designated as legendary VIP members—many of whom do not possess official identification—thus undermining the integrity of the electoral process. Queen Hassana also reported that during her campaign, her team faced intimidation from individuals associated with the previous regime, who deployed cult-like tactics with the backing of security forces.
Despite these challenges, Queen Hassana remains optimistic about the future of AGN in Kogi State, expressing hope that the national leadership will make the right decision for the organization. “Kogi State AGN will rise and shine again,” she asserted, underscoring her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all members.

In addition to her advocacy for democratic governance within AGN, Queen Hassana is currently focused on her next project, the *National Fibroid Awareness Auction*, as she prepares for the 12th edition of the Miss Nollywood International pageant. Her ongoing efforts highlight her dedication not only to her role as a leader within the entertainment industry but also to raising awareness on important health issues affecting women.
