The President of Ijaw Youth Council, (IYC) Worldwide, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, has expressed his sincere gratitude to the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri, for approving the appointments of some key IYC members to serve in the Prosperity Government.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tari Agai, Jonathan Lokpobiri Snr, who said the Governor’s move which is seen as a testament to his commitment to youth empowerment and development, will boost the morale of IYC members and strengthen their resolve to collaborate with the Prosperity Government in achieving set goals.
While noting that council is confident that this partnership will yield positive results for Bayelsans and the Ijaw people as a whole, the IYC President pledged to continue supporting Governor Diri’s administration in its laudable efforts to develop the state and empower the youths.
The IYC President, who also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Governor, for his invaluable support and fatherly role to all Ijaws, regardless of their party affiliations or state of origin, said the Governor has been instrumental in facilitating the council’s activities, enabling the IYC to perform its duties optimally as the umbrella youth body in Ijaw nation.
He emphasized that the IYC will remain indebted to Governor Diri, for his unwavering dedication to empowering Ijaw youths and promoting peace and stability, which are essential for development, and align perfectly with the IYC”s values.
Jonathan Lokpobiri, who also doubles as the Chairman, Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum, also used the opportunity to advise Ijaw youths to be peaceful and law abiding in all situations, and steer clear from activities that may be harmful to society.
