INT’L YOUTH DAY 2025: TURNAH ASSURES OF 95 PER CENT PDP TICKET RESERVATION FOR YOUTH AND WOMEN IN 2027; CHARGES BAYELSA YOUTHS TO PREPARE FOR LEADERSHIP

The Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Hon. Barr. George Turnah, MON, has assured that youths and women will receive at least 95 per cent of the party’s elective opportunities in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in commemoration of International Youth Day 2025 with the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” Turnah said the PDP in Bayelsa remains committed to inclusivity and youth empowerment, stressing that young people must be intentional in preparing themselves for leadership.

In his words, “the PDP under my leadership in Bayelsa State will work towards reserving no less than 95 per cent of our tickets for youths and women in 2027. However, leadership is earned, not handed out. Our young people must consciously equip themselves with the values, competence, and vision to lead effectively.”

He urged Bayelsa youths to shun undemocratic practices such as thuggery and political violence, describing them as obstacles to genuine political advancement.

Turnah further called on government and stakeholders to provide an enabling environment; through education, mentorship, and access to opportunities to allow young people and women to find the right expressions for their talents and aspirations.

He emphasized that empowered youths are not only the drivers of the SDGs but also the builders of a prosperous and inclusive future.
