International Forum for Peace & Diplomacy Appoints Irene Onwuka Special Envoy in Education.

Queen Irene Onwuka, the founder of Queen Irene Onwuka peace Foundation, a non-governmental organization with a core focus on Education and persons with disabilities has been appointed a Special Envoy in Education by the International Forum for Peace and Diplomacy (IFPD), reflecting the organization’s firm belief that education is the foundation of Africa’s long-term peace, economic transformation, and sustainable development.

Her appointment is contained in a release signed by the Nigeria’s head of IFDP, and made available to newsmen at the weekend.

“Across the continent, quality and inclusive education remains essential to empowering young people, reducing inequality, strengthening governance, and fostering innovation. Education is not only a social necessity but a strategic investment in Africa’s future leadership and workforce”, the release said.

This aligns with the major focus of her foundation which is to advance development through education, a key tool that helps individuals succeed. She has undertaken several education-related projects in various parts of the country.

Not long ago, her Queen Irene Onwuka peace foundation in collaboration with Lagos State government hosted a quiz competition for secondary schools in the state.

This is in addition to a creative writing competition in Abuja where schools won mouth-watering prizes for their outstanding performances.

In her role as Special Envoy, Queen Irene Onwuka is expected to advocate for improved access to quality education, promote skills development and knowledge-driven policies.

She is also expected to engage stakeholders to support educational reforms and partnerships across Africa, a mandate that aligns with IFPD’s vision of using education as a tool for peacebuilding, social cohesion, and continental progress.

Beyond education, Queen Onwuka has also made significant impact in the society especially in the lives of children whose future she has consistently remained critical of.

Her Foundation recently signed a historic partnership agreement with the office of Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs, aiming to increase efforts to empower people with special needs and persons with disabilities in Nigeria.

The International Forum for Peace and Diplomacy expressed confidence that her leadership and advocacy will contribute significantly to building a more educated, resilient, and prosperous Africa.
