Igbadiwei’s INC Vision Gains Momentum as Support Builds Across Ijaw Nation

Support is steadily growing for High Chief Hon. Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei following his declaration to contest for the presidency of the Ijaw National Congress in the forthcoming 2026 election.

Across several Ijaw communities, political stakeholders, youth leaders and cultural advocates have continued to commend Igbadiwei’s leadership credentials, describing him as a man with the vision and courage needed to reposition the apex Ijaw socio-cultural body for greater relevance.

Many supporters believe his entrance into the race has energized conversations about the future of the organization, particularly on issues of stronger political advocacy, unity among Ijaw clans and the preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the people.

Community leaders who spoke on the development noted that Igbadiwei has over the years demonstrated commitment to grassroots development and community leadership, qualities they say will help strengthen the institutional capacity of the Congress.

According to them, the aspirant’s promise to deepen transparency within the organization and amplify the voice of the Ijaw people in national affairs resonates strongly with many stakeholders who desire a more proactive and influential INC.

Youth groups have also expressed optimism about his candidacy, stating that his leadership could open new opportunities for young people to participate more actively in cultural promotion, advocacy and development initiatives across the Niger Delta.

Observers say the growing goodwill around Igbadiwei’s ambition suggests that the race for the leadership of the Congress could become one of the most closely watched contests in the history of the organization.

With consultations continuing across the region, many believe the coming months will further shape the momentum around the quest to lead the Ijaw National Congress into a new era of unity, cultural pride and stronger representation for the Ijaw nation.
