Igbadiwei Promises Stronger Advocacy, Cultural Revival for Ijaw Nation

High Chief Hon. Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei has outlined a comprehensive vision to strengthen political advocacy, promote Ijaw culture, and improve institutional transparency within the Ijaw National Congress (INC), pledging purposeful leadership aimed at advancing the collective interests of the Ijaw people.
The respected community leader and high chief said his leadership vision focuses on repositioning the INC as a stronger and more influential voice for the Ijaw nation across Nigeria and the international community.
According to him, his agenda is anchored on four key pillars: strategic political advocacy and engagement, promotion of Ijaw culture and identity through education, institutional reforms to strengthen transparency within the Congress, and renewed emphasis on environmental safety and security across Ijaw communities in the Niger Delta.
Igbadiwei explained that strengthening advocacy for the rights and welfare of the Ijaw people remains central to his vision, stressing that the Congress must play a more active role in engaging governments and relevant stakeholders on issues affecting the Niger Delta.
He noted that environmental degradation, economic marginalization, and the gradual erosion of cultural values continue to pose serious challenges to communities in the region, adding that proactive leadership and strategic partnerships are necessary to address these concerns.
“I am committed to strengthening the voice of our people and ensuring that the Ijaw nation occupies its rightful place in the socio-political landscape of Nigeria,” he stated.
He further emphasized the importance of promoting Ijaw cultural heritage through education and community initiatives, noting that preserving the identity, language, and traditions of the Ijaw people must remain a priority for future generations.
Igbadiwei also pledged to strengthen institutional transparency within the Congress by encouraging accountability, internal reforms, and inclusive participation among members and stakeholders.
Observers within Ijaw communities say the vision reflects growing calls for stronger advocacy on issues such as resource control, environmental justice, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
Supporters of the community leader describe him as a bridge-builder with deep grassroots connections and administrative experience, qualities they believe will help reposition the Congress as a more vibrant and responsive institution.
Campaign materials associated with his message carry the slogan “Commitment for Service,” which underscores his pledge to provide responsible and purposeful leadership for the advancement of the Ijaw nation.
