GEORGE TURNAH CELEBRATES KOLOCIAN APPOINTEES, URGES GOVERNOR DIRI TO DO BEYOND MARKET POSITIONS

Bayelsa State, Nigeria – April 28, 2025
The Acting State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, has congratulated all Kolocians who received recent appointments into the Governor Douye Diri-led Assured Prosperity Administration.
In a statement made available to newsmen by his Media Assistant, Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, Barr. Turnah described the appointments as a significant milestone for the Kolo community and a cause for collective celebration among all genuine lovers of Kolo and Ogbia Ward 9.
According to him, “Any gains or benefits for Kolocians should be celebrated by all who genuinely care for our community. On this note, I wholeheartedly celebrate and congratulate our esteemed sons and daughters on their well-deserved appointments.”
Barr. Turnah, who is also the Zonal Secretary of the PDP South-South Zone, stressed the need for the state administration to go beyond symbolic gestures and empower the newly appointed individuals with substantial responsibilities. He noted that the era of relegating Kolocians to minor roles, referred to as the “100K to 200K Madam Must Go Market” positions should be a thing of the past.
“I sincerely hope that the administration empowers those appointed far beyond the usual limited roles. Our people are highly capable and deserve positions that allow them to make meaningful contributions to the state’s development,” Turnah stated.
While expressing gratitude to Governor Douye Diri for recognizing the contributions and potentials of Kolocians, Turnah urged the Governor to consider even greater inclusion for the Kolo community in subsequent appointments. He emphasized that Kolo and the wider Ogbia Ward 9 boast a large pool of eminently qualified individuals who can serve effectively in higher offices.
“We have many highly qualified sons and daughters who can serve as Commissioners, Special Advisers, Technical Advisers, Board Chairpersons, Commission Members, and Chief Executive Officers of critical agencies. Governor Diri should consider appointing a Kolocian of his choosing as his Principal Secretary, a position that has remained vacant since his second term began. This would be a strong demonstration of his commitment to the people of Kolo and Ogbia Ward 9,” he added.
Turnah reaffirmed that the progress of Kolo is non-negotiable and expressed confidence that, regardless of the magnitude of the appointments, the community stands as the ultimate beneficiary.
“Head or tail, Kolo is the beneficiary,” he concluded.
The statement has since been widely circulated and warmly received among Kolo indigenes and Bayelsans across the state, as many praised Turnah’s continued commitment to advocating for his people.
Barr. George Turnah, MON, remains a leading voice in Bayelsa’s political landscape, consistently championing causes that promote inclusion, development, and empowerment, especially for his Ogbia constituents.
