Chairman Association of Professional Women Engineers in Nigeria Engr. Amalate Ann Obuebite Ph.D visits General Manager, Capacity Building Directorate, NCDMB
The Capacity Building Directorate of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) today received a delegation from the Bayelsa Chapter of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (@apwenbayelsa) at the Nigerian Content Tower, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Led by its Chairperson, Dr. Engr. Mrs. Amalate Ann Jonathan Obuebite, the APWEN delegation expressed appreciation to the Board for its impactful initiatives and highlighted the purpose of the visit—to seek collaboration and support for APWEN and her programmes.
Dr. Obuebite requested the Board’s support for:
• Continuous professional training and development for APWEN members,
• Inclusion in the Board’s forthcoming Engineering Olympiad to promote STEM education,
• Participation in the Back to the Creeks initiative, and
• Strategic partnership to deepen the impact of APWEN’s activities.
The delegation also presented the APWEN quarterly journal to the Board.
In response, representatives of the Directorate encouraged APWEN to propose specific areas of collaboration for the Engineering Olympiad and identify skills and training gaps where the Board’s intervention could be valuable. APWEN Members were also advised to register on the NOGICJQS portal and pursue globally recognized certifications to enhance opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
The General Manager, Capacity Building Directorate, Barr. Esueme Dan Kikile, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the Board’s role in raising Nigerian content in the oil and gas industry from below 5% to 56%. He reiterated the Board’s commitment to building local capacity and urged APWEN members to take full advantage of the NOGICJQS portal and other opportunities.
Barr. Kikile assured APWEN of NCDMB’s willingness to collaborate on relevant initiatives, including Back to the Creeks, and encouraged active involvement in facility and infrastructure development. He also highlighted the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum (NCCF) as a platform for professional engagement and dialogue.
