President Buhari to APC governors “Allow me to pick my successor”

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged governors who were elected on the APC platform to allow him to choose his successor.

This was stated by Buhari during his meeting with APC governors at the Aso Rock Villa on Tuesday.

The president made this appeal just days before the APC’s national convention to choose a presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

“As we approach the Convention, I implore all of you to allow our interests to converge, to keep our focus on the changing dynamics of our environment, our citizens’ expectations, and the global community,” Buhari said. Our goal must be for our party to win, and our candidate must be someone who will instill a sense of victory and confidence in the Nigerian people even before the elections.

“In accordance with the Party’s established internal policies, and as we approach the Convention in a few days, I would like to seek the reciprocity and support of the Governors and other stakeholders in selecting my successor, who would fly the flag of our party for election into the office of President of the federal Republic of Nigeria
