In driving the urban renewal vision in the ASSURED agenda of His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, the Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority ably led by Hon. Timothy Diekivie Itiedu has unveiled the DIRI CLEANS BAYELSA awareness campaign along side his board members, directors, heads of departments of the Authority, as he charged them towards a more effective and productive delivery of the urban renewal plan of the Assured Agenda of his Excellency Sen Douye Diri on whose mandate the board is sited.
In his opening remarks he reiterated the need for all hands to be on deck as the coming weeks and days will be tasky in enforcing compliance in the Diri Cleans Bayelsa campaign starting from 1st November 2024, which he flagged-off upon assumption of office.
The project is to sensitize Bayelsans on the need to keep Bayelsa clean.
Therefore, from 1st of Nov. 2024, Government will no longer condone
• Dumping of refuse inside drainages, canals and unapproved dump sites.
Please Note: Wastes must be bagged in Government approved disposable bags.
•Dumping of items on the roadside such as sand, chippings, blocks etc..
Also, dumping of refuse will now be from 4-7pm Daily
•All Businesses and Residential Areas must have waste bins to avoid littering of the neighborhood.
•Say No to open defecation and channelling of feaces into drainages and canals.
•Motorists are advised to stop throwing of wastes from moving vehicles.
•Scavenging will no more be tolerated.
•Traders must keep our markets clean.
•Vehicles abandoned on roadsides will be impounded.
Defaulters are bound to be sanctioned.
Let’s join hands to keep our city clean and healthy.

However, the meeting was a fruitful one, as Board members, Directors, and HODs of the Authority appreciated the Executive Chairman for the innovations he has brought to the board, and pledged to work collaboratively in unity to achieve the desired results.
