Bayelsa PDP to Hold State Congress, Commission New Secretariat Saturday

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State has announced plans to hold its State Congress on Saturday, March 14, 2026, alongside the commissioning of a new State Secretariat for the party.

The Acting Chairman of the party in the state, George Turnah, extended an open invitation to party faithful, stakeholders, and members of the public to attend the twin event, which is expected to mark a significant step in strengthening the party’s structure in Bayelsa.

Turnah said the State Congress will provide an opportunity for party members to consolidate the PDP’s leadership and reaffirm its commitment to unity and internal democracy. He noted that the commissioning of the new secretariat will also serve as a symbol of the party’s growth and organizational strength in the state.

According to him, the gathering is expected to attract party leaders, delegates, and supporters from across the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State.

“This is an important moment for our great party as we come together to deepen our structures and commission a befitting secretariat that will serve as the administrative hub of the party in the state,” Turnah said.

He urged members and supporters of the party to turn out in large numbers to witness the congress and the commissioning ceremony, describing the event as a milestone for the PDP in Bayelsa.

The PDP has remained a dominant political force in Bayelsa State since the return of democratic governance in 1999, producing several governors and maintaining a strong presence in the state’s political landscape.
