BAYELSA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2026 GAINS MOMENTUM AS ORGANISER HOLDS STRATEGIC MEETINGS IN LAGOS

The Bayelsa International Film Festival (BIFF) 2026 is gathering strong momentum following a series of high-level strategic engagements by its organiser, Mr. Moses Etonzor, aimed at strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities for Bayelsa filmmakers and actors within Nigeria’s booming film industry.

Speaking to TvAfrica24 News reporters from Lagos on Monday, Etonzor disclosed that he is holding a crucial meeting with Canon, the globally renowned imaging and filmmaking technology company, as a key strategic partner for the forthcoming BIFF 2026. According to him, the partnership discussions are focused on technical support, capacity building, and equipment collaboration that will elevate the quality and global competitiveness of the festival.

In another significant development, the BIFF organiser revealed that he is also meeting with the President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) to deliberate on deliberate pathways for Bayelsa-based actors and filmmakers to be featured in Lagos-produced movies. He noted that the move is targeted at boosting career growth, strengthening professional exposure, and fostering sustainable networking opportunities for talents from Bayelsa within the Nollywood ecosystem.

Etonzor further disclosed plans for a high-level engagement with the Chief Executive Officer and Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Dr. Shaibu Husseini, to address issues bordering on inclusivity and access. The meeting, he said, will focus on integrating Bayelsa filmmakers into the Lagos film market and streamlining processes that will enable Bayelsa-produced films to be easily and efficiently censored in line with national regulations.

“These engagements are part of our broader vision to position Bayelsa as a strong and visible player in the Nigerian and African film industry,” Etonzor stated. “BIFF 2026 is not just a festival; it is a platform to open doors, build bridges, and create lasting opportunities for our creatives.”

Industry observers say the series of meetings signal a new phase of strategic growth for the Bayelsa International Film Festival, with BIFF 2026 shaping up to be one of the most impactful editions since its inception.
