Bayelsa Deputy Governor Ewhrujakpo Inaugurates Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Bayelsa 7th Exco

….President-General Promise to Unite Ndigbo in Bayelsa
It was a time of joy, fulfilment and harmony in the Igbo community in Bayelsa State as the new 7th exco of the Ohaneze Ndigbo was inaugurated to serve for a single tenure of four years in Yenagoa
The new executives elected to protect the Igbo people and their interests, as well as foster unity and peace among Ndigbo in Bayelsa state, was launched by Sen. Lawrence Ewhrujakpo the Bayelsa Deputy Governor.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Frank Odunukwe, President-General Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide Bayelsa Chapter called for greater unity among Ndigbo in Bayelsa, while emphasising the need for harmonious coexistence between the Igbos and their host communities.
Dr. Odunukwe reiterated that Igbo must respect constituted authorities and cultures of their hosts, noting that it is only by doing this that peace and progress would be achieved.
He appreciated the Bayelsa Government for the commitment towards the well-being of the Igbo community and providing the enabling atmosphere for Igbos to thrive in the state and solicited the government’s assistance in achieving the construction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Bayelsa State Chapter Secretariat which will be a priority of the 7th Exco.
Earlier in his remarks the Special Guest of the occasion and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo, commended Igbo people for their resourcefulness and entrepreneurial prowess all over the world, which he said had enhanced the status and economic growth of the state.
Represented by High Chief Collins Cocodia, the Special Adviser on political matters to the Bayelsa Governor, Sen. Ewhrujakpo extolled Ndigbo in Bayelsa State for being good ambassadors of the Igbo people and for being law-abiding and supportive of the Government.
Sen. Lawrence Ewhrujakpo further affirmed the continued support of the Prosperity Government for the Igbo community.
“The significant contributions of the Igbos to the growth of the economy of Bayelsa State is well acknowledged. You have made Bayelsa your home and have earned your respect because you work hard and you always have something to show for your hardwork. Be rest assured this Government will continue to support Ndigbo in Bayelsa State.”
Members of the newly inaugurated 7th Excos of Ndigbo Bayelsa includes: President-General, Frank U. Odunukwe (KSJI); Deputy President, Michael Enebeli Chukwuemeka; Welfare, Nnanna Eugene; Financial Secretary, Simon Peter, among others.
Various cultural performances were showcased by representives of different Igbo states to demonstrate the Igbo rich cultural heritage.
High point of the ceremony was the traditional breaking of kola nut (oji) symbolizing hospitality, respect, and connection to ancestors and presentation of awards to the Bayelsa Deputy Governor and Chief Collins Cocodia for their iconic support and role in restoring peace in the Igbo community in Bayelsa State.
