Bayelsa-born legal practitioner, Barrister Etifa Jonathan Gbarenowei, has pleaded for assistance following his diagnosis with “end-stage kidney disease.”
In a video released on Facebook, the lawyer is soliciting help from well-meaning Bayelsans and Nigerians to undergo a kidney transplant, which is estimated to cost N30,000,000 (thirty million naira).
According to him, “I’m on dialysis, which is sustaining me temporarily, and I have been urged to undertake an urgent kidney transplant. That’s why I’m here—to seek support and help from our leaders.
“I want to appeal to my dear governor, Governor Douye Diri, the miracle governor of Bayelsa State. I appeal to you to come to my aid. I have made efforts to write to your good office for support.
“I also want to appeal to my leader, the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri. My father, I beg you to come to my rescue at this trying time.”
Etifa also extended his appeal to the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Chief Dennis Otuaro, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku; and the entire Ijaw nation to come to his rescue.
While expressing gratitude to his family, friends, and associates who have supported him so far, he also said: “To those I have offended, I ask for your forgiveness.”
