The President/Founder African Women Foundation, AWF Dr. Chief Mrs. Modupe Jimoh Ibrahim has been honoured with
an award of recognition at the recently concluded fifth annual national conference of the Association of Local Governments Vice Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC) which took place in Abuja.
The association also recognised some other notable Nigerian leaders, including the governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, governor of Ekiti state, John Kayode Fayemi, governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum and others with awards of recognition for their selfless services to the nation.
Dr. Mrs Ibrahim a woman of substance, highly reputed for her good heart and overflowing of kindness especially among women and children from less privileged backgrounds was honoured with Icon Award of Excellence of the year by the body of local government vice chairmen.
Her organisation, AWF is a leading non-governmental organisation that specializes in raising awareness for the rights of women in Africa.
In her brief remark shortly after the presentation of her award by no other person but the National Chairman, ALGOVC Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Mrs. Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the association for finding her worthy of the honour.
While commending the local government vice chairmen for their roles in raising the bar of development especially at the grass-root, she promised to continue to lead in the campaign and action to enhance the welfare of women in her community and beyond.
The annual national conference, which had as the theme “The Role of Local Government Administration in Delivering Good Governance in Nigeria” took place at Nicon Luxury hotel Abuja.
It had in attendance state Governor, members of the National Assembly, traditional rulers and community leaders, as well as representatives of security agencies and youth organizations.
