A RESOUNDING CONGRATULATIONS TO CHIEF OWIL SALBOT ON HIS WELL-DESERVED APPOINTMENT AS PERMANENT SECRETARY …TURNAH
The Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South South Zone, and Acting Chairman of the PDP in Bayelsa State, Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, extends his warmest congratulations to our illustrious son, Chief Owil Salbot, on his well-deserved appointment as Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State.
Hon. Turnah describes the appointment as not only a recognition of Chief Salbot’s years of dedication, competence, and integrity in public service, but also a moment of pride for the people of Kolo Town and the entire Ogbia Kingdom. He notes that Chief Salbot’s elevation to this prestigious office is a testament to his hard work and capacity to deliver on assigned responsibilities.
While congratulating him, Hon. Turnah urges the new Permanent Secretary to remain a worthy ambassador of Kolo Town and Ogbia Kingdom, and to discharge his duties with diligence, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to the overall development of Bayelsa State. He encourages him to justify the confidence reposed in him by the government and people of the state.
Hon. Turnah also expresses profound appreciation to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, for finding Chief Owil Salbot worthy of this important appointment. He describes the gesture as, so far, the only notable reward extended to the people of Kolo and Ward 9 since the Governor’s emergence in 2020.
While acknowledging the appointment with gratitude, Hon. Turnah respectfully calls on the Governor to use the remaining years of his administration to adequately reward the people of Kolo for their overwhelming support in the 2019 and 2023 elections. He notes with concern that in over six years, no state government project has been carried out or sited in Kolo Town, not even a meter of road constructed or any visible infrastructure provided in the name of the Bayelsa State Government.
He further appeals to the Governor to urgently address what he described as the continued marginalization of the people of Kolo Ward 9, particularly in the area of political appointments. According to him, aside from the Rural Development Authority (RDA) Chairmanship, which is statutory and politically zoned to Kolo, no son or daughter of Kolo is currently serving on any Board, Parastatal, or Government Agency in a political capacity.
Hon. Turnah reminds the Governor of his personal support, sacrifices, commitment, and loyalty when it mattered most, and passionately pleads that such efforts should not be allowed to go in vain, noting that posterity will ultimately judge every leader by the fairness and inclusiveness of their stewardship.
George Turnah, MON wishes the Governor wisdom, strength, and good health as he continues to steer the affairs of Bayelsa State, praying that God grants him divine guidance in making decisions that will foster unity, equity, and sustainable development across all communities.
