As the 2027 general elections begin to loom on the political horizon, the non-profit organization Working People United has officially called for a massive mobilization of support to secure a second term for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The appeal was made during a high-profile courtesy visit to the National Youth Organization of Nigeria on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, signaling an early start to strategic alliances ahead of the next polls.
Addressing the gathering, the National President of Working People United, Comrade Prince Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, characterized the initiative as a historic platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of the nation’s working class.
He emphasized that the group’s mission is to bridge the gap between government reforms and the citizenry, ensuring that the structural changes currently being implemented translate into tangible benefits for the most vulnerable members of society. Akporeha noted that while the administration’s economic reforms have introduced temporary challenges, they are essential for long-term prosperity.
He pointed to grassroots policies aimed at improving social amenities and economic opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurs as evidence that the current leadership is laying a foundation for a stronger national economy.
Looking toward the 2027 political cycle, Akporeha stated that the movement intends to play a decisive role in sustaining the progress made under the present administration.
He outlined a goal to mobilize millions of workers, artisans, farmers, and professionals to back the continuation of policies designed to rebuild national institutions.
He further cautioned Nigerians against the politics of misinformation and empty promises, urging a shift toward responsible citizenship and constructive dialogue.
In his response, Dr. Duke Alamboye, the President of the National Youth Organization and Convener of the Green Assembly Initiative, provided a candid assessment of the youth perspective.
He reminded the delegation that young people account for over 65 percent of the voting population but have historically felt neglected and disillusioned.
Dr. Alamboye stressed that Nigerian youths are yearning for good governance and leadership that moves beyond rhetoric to activate genuine youth participation in decision-making processes.
Despite these concerns, he pledged that his leadership would collaborate with Working People United to ensure the right candidates are elected in 2027.
He acknowledged that a four-year term is often insufficient to fully reverse a nation’s fortunes, expressing a belief that the Tinubu administration is making a sincere effort to fulfill its promises.
Supporting this sentiment, Dr. Felix Idowu, Chairman of the National Working Committee of Youths In Politics, advocated for a more inclusive political landscape where young people occupy significant leadership positions.
He affirmed the commitment of his organization to support the objectives of Working People United in the lead-up to the elections.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including the Queen Mother of Nigerian Youths, Mrs. Juliet Bunmi Alli, alongside Moses of Africa, WPU National Treasurer Mr. Woke Olamite, and WPU Programs Coordinator Dr. Ibiseri, all of whom underscored the importance of a united front for Nigeria’s future development.
