Ijaw Youths Endorse High Chief Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei for INC Presidency

Ijaw youths across the Niger Delta have thrown their weight behind High Chief Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei, declaring him the most suitable candidate for the presidency of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).
The endorsement, which emerged from a coalition of youth leaders and stakeholders, highlighted Igbadiwei’s track record of grassroots engagement, leadership experience, and unwavering commitment to the unity and development of the Ijaw nation.
Speaking on behalf of the group, a youth representative described Igbadiwei as “a bridge-builder with the capacity to unite all zones of Ijaw land and reposition the INC for greater relevance.”
> “High Chief Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei has consistently demonstrated uncommon dedication to the Ijaw cause. His leadership style is inclusive, forward-thinking, and rooted in service. At this critical time, he is the kind of leader the INC needs,” the youths stated.
The group further emphasized that the forthcoming INC leadership transition presents an opportunity to strengthen advocacy for resource control, environmental justice, and youth empowerment in the region.
> “We are not just endorsing a candidate; we are supporting a vision—one that prioritizes the welfare of the Ijaw people, promotes unity, and ensures our voices are heard at the national level,” another youth leader added.
Reinforcing their stance, the youths insisted that Igbadiwei possesses the courage and clarity needed to confront pressing issues affecting the region.
> “The Ijaw nation requires a leader who understands our struggles—from environmental degradation to youth unemployment—and has the courage to speak truth to power. Igbadiwei has shown over time that he is fearless and committed,” a coordinator from the Western Zone said.
They also praised his consistent engagement with young people across communities.
> “He listens to the youths, he carries us along, and he believes in our potential. This is not just politics; it is about representation and inclusion. With him, the younger generation will have a voice,” a female youth leader noted.
Another stakeholder pointed to his ability to unify diverse interests within the Ijaw nation.
> “At a time when divisions can weaken our collective strength, we need a unifier. High Chief Igbadiwei has demonstrated that he can bring everyone to the table regardless of background or affiliation,” he said.
The group further called on delegates and stakeholders of the Ijaw National Congress to rally behind Igbadiwei, stressing that his emergence would usher in a new era of progress, inclusiveness, and strategic leadership.
> “This is a defining moment for the INC. Delegates must look beyond sentiments and choose competence, credibility, and vision. Igbadiwei embodies all these qualities,” the youths emphasized.
High Chief Igbadiwei, a frontline presidential aspirant, has in recent weeks intensified consultations across various zones, promoting his “Think Ijaw First” agenda aimed at fostering collective growth and sustainable development.
> “Our support is total and unwavering. We believe that under his leadership, the INC will regain its strength and continue to champion the rights and aspirations of the Ijaw people,” the statement concluded.
