Grand Finale of Pst. Reuben Clifford Wilson Debate and Scholarship Competition Holds Today in Yenagoa as senior secondary school students from across Bayelsa State converge for the climax of the highly competitive academic and intellectual contest.
The debate and scholarship competition, initiated by Pst. Reuben Clifford Wilson, Member of the Governing Council, University of Uyo, is aimed at promoting critical thinking, leadership development, and academic excellence among young Nigerians.
The grand finale is taking place today, Wednesday, December 24, 2025, by 10:00am prompt, at Tamarau Hall, Otiotio Road (by Express), Yenezuegene, with finalists engaging in rigorous debate sessions before a panel of seasoned adjudicators.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, organisers said the competition reflects Pst. Reuben Clifford Wilson’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, education, and nation-building, stressing that investing in young minds remains one of the most sustainable paths to societal development.
Winners of the competition will receive substantial scholarship rewards, with the overall winner taking home ₦1,000,000, while the 1st Runner-Up will receive ₦800,000, the 2nd Runner-Up ₦600,000, and the 3rd Runner-Up ₦400,000.
Education stakeholders have described the programme as timely and impactful, noting that it provides students with a platform to sharpen their intellect, boost confidence, and cultivate public speaking skills essential for future leadership roles.
Parents, teachers, students, and members of the general public are present in large numbers to witness what organisers describe as an exciting and intellectually enriching finale.
The event is being coordinated under the Pst. Reuben Initiative, with youth-focused execution and broad stakeholder engagement.
