Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Sabinus, has stirred conversations online after openly dragging the AMVCA Content Creator category, expressing dissatisfaction with how the award has evolved since he won in 2022.
Speaking with visible disappointment, Sabinus said the magic, transparency, and excitement he felt when he received the Best Online Social Content Creator award three years ago have not been replicated in subsequent editions.
According to him, “From that particular night till date, I’ve not seen any night like that in AMVCA. I can say 100% that whenever an award is given to someone who truly deserves it, it shows.”
He questioned the direction of the category after his win, adding that while the movie categories still retain a strong emotional impact, the content creator category has become confusing and less compelling.
“Ever since then, I don’t know what they’ve been doing. The thing is somehow… I only feel that AMVCA moment in the movie actors. But in my category, I don’t know what’s happening,” he said.
Sabinus emerged winner of the AMVCA Best Online Social Content Creator award in 2022, followed by Kiekie in 2023, Layi Wasabi in 2024, and Iyo Prosper in 2025.
His comments have triggered renewed debate about the selection process, criteria, and transparency of the AMVCA content creator category, with many fans demanding clearer guidelines and improved credibility ahead of the next awards ceremony.
