In a heartwarming show of compassion and community service, the Advocacy for Human Strategic Change Initiative, a Yenagoa-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), has once again demonstrated its commitment to humanity by putting smiles on the faces of widows, orphans, and the elderly in Bayelsa State.

The humanitarian event, held in Yenagoa, brought together dozens of widows and vulnerable individuals who benefited from the organisation’s gesture. The NGO presented food items, clothing, and other gift packages to the beneficiaries, describing the outreach as part of its ongoing efforts to alleviate the economic hardship faced by underprivileged groups in society.
Speaking at the event, Pastor Esther Martins, founder of the Advocacy for Human Strategic Change Initiative explained that the outreach was designed to show love, empathy, and solidarity with the less privileged, especially at a time when many families are struggling with the rising cost of living. She emphasized that the organisation’s vision is rooted in compassion and social transformation through practical acts of kindness.

“Our mission is simple — to give hope where it seems lost and to remind widows, orphans, and the elderly that they are not forgotten. We believe that every little act of kindness can spark a chain reaction of positive change in society,” she said.
The beneficiaries, visibly moved by the gesture, offered heartfelt prayers for the founder and members of the organisation. Many of them expressed gratitude, noting that such acts of giving make a significant difference in their lives.
One of the widows, said, “I am deeply touched by what this NGO has done for us. It’s not just about the food or gifts — it’s the love and care they’ve shown. May God continue to bless and reward them for remembering us.”

The event was filled with songs of praise, prayers, and emotional testimonies from beneficiaries who shared their personal stories of survival and hope. The elderly participants, some in tears of joy, described the day as one they would never forget.
The Advocacy for Human Strategic Change Initiative has over the years earned a reputation for its consistent humanitarian interventions in Bayelsa State, ranging from youth empowerment and skills training to health awareness campaigns and support for vulnerable groups.

As part of its future plans, the NGO announced that it will expand its outreach to rural communities across Bayelsa, ensuring that more widows, orphans, and the elderly can benefit from its programmes.
The atmosphere at the event was one of gratitude, joy, and renewed faith in humanity, as the beneficiaries joined hands to pray for the continued success and divine protection of the Advocacy for Human Strategic Change Initiative and its founder.
