Comrade George Ekpuke, during an interview session in Yenagoa, stated on the issues of Porri’s capacity and qualification that Ebilade has shown inconsistency and confusion. On one hand, he claimed that Porri lacks both the capacity and qualification to contest. On the other hand, he admitted that since Porri is above 40 years old, he is constitutionally qualified to run for the Senate. Which one should we believe? Ebilade posed a question and contradicted himself with the answer.

As an elected lawmaker, Porri has the mandate of his people to represent and defend their interests. The people of Ekeremor Constituency 1 have declared it is EKEREMOR turn to produce the Senator, and Porri, as their representative, is duty-bound to pursue that mandate if he so wishes. He has not betrayed anyone; instead, he is fulfilling his responsibility to his people.

PORRI’S ROLE IN EBILADE’S POLITICAL RISE

Even if we assume (without conceding) that Ebilade contributed to Porri’s political journey, we’re was Ebilade when Hon.Porri was elected Ekeremor Local Students President, IYC Deputy Speaker, IYC Acting Speaker, Legal Adviser and IYC Central Zone Chairman, the truth remains that Porri did far more for Ebilade. After the IYC Central Zone election, which Porri won, he brought Ebilade close and worked with him.
• Porri fought for Ebilade to succeed him as Central Zone Chairman, though unsuccessfully.
• Porri facilitated Ebilade’s first political appointment as Special Adviser to the Governor.
• Porri relocated Ebilade from Ekeremor Town to Aleibiri, introduced him to his family, and helped him register politically so he could have a stronger voice.
• When Ebilade desired to be IYC spokesman, Porri supported him and even mobilized key leaders to secure that position for him.

How did Ebilade repay this loyalty? He turned against Porri, gathered youths to endorse him on the radio to run for Assembly against Porri. Later, those same youths, realizing his unstable character, went back on air to withdraw their support.

The only time Porri did not back him—when Ebilade ran for IYC President against Jonathan Lokpobiri (his own benefactor)—he failed woefully. Who then is truly ungrateful? This is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black.

EBILADE AND THE PROSPERITY GOVERNMENT

Ebilade’s record with the Prosperity Government shows instability and greed. Despite being supported, he publicly insulted a sitting governor and challenged his leadership as a factional party secretary.

Even when given appointment slots to empower others, Ebilade allegedly collected returns from those appointees’ salaries. This exposes him as self-serving and exploitative.

EBILADE AS IYC SPOKESMAN

As National Spokesman of the IYC, Ebilade betrayed the Ijaw Youth struggle. While Ijaw youths stood united on the NDDC issue, Ebilade secretly “cashed out.” After collecting money, he declared there would be no protest—undermining the collective stance of Ijaw youths. This led the then Minister of Niger Delta Affairs to insult the revered IYC, dismissing it as an “unknown group.”

From then, Ebilade earned the title “Mr. Cash Out.” Does such a person have the moral standing to question anyone?

FINAL POSITION

We, as a group, call on Bayelsans—especially those in Bayelsa West and Ekeremor—to disregard Ebilade. His history shows him as inconsistent, opportunistic, and unreliable.

In 2015, when former Governor Dickson was seeking a second term, Porri mobilized support across Ekeremor. Yet, when Porri’s team reached Ekeremor town, it was the same Ebilade who attempted to attack him—only to be chased away.

Ebilade is a political jobber, a failed opportunist, and a man who has never even won his own unit. His words carry no weight and should not distract the people.
