Dr. Eruani Azibapu Godbless: A Treasure for Ogbia, Bayelsa, and the Niger Delta -Hon. Chief Mizodome Ibu

In the heart of the Niger Delta, where the vibrant culture and immense natural resources intersect, Dr. Azibapu Godbless Eruani CFR, The President Azikel Group stands out as a beacon of hope and inspiration. His contributions extend far beyond the borders of Ogbia Local Government Area; they resonate throughout Bayelsa State and define the future of the entire Niger Delta region. While many may overlook the valuable assets within our midst, I consider it a privilege to closely witness the profound impact Dr. Eruani has made in our state.

Ogbia is historically significant as the first Local Government in Nigeria where crude oil was discovered in commercial quantities. This rich heritage makes it even more remarkable that we are home to one of the leading industrialists in the oil and gas sector. Dr. Eruani’s ventures encapsulate the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that Ogbia and Bayelsa desperately need. His drive to create sustainable economic opportunities aligns beautifully with the aspirations of our people.

Recently, I had the honour of accompanying our esteemed leader, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan GCFR GCON, to the AZIKEL REFINERY. This experience was nothing short of eye-opening. Witnessing the magnitude of investment and the sheer scale of development taking place at the refinery left me inspired. Importantly, what I saw on the ground is different from what I have heard; the talk out there that nothing is being done at the site of the refinery is untrue, as all of the equipment needed for the finishing has already been procured and the bases for their installation have already been done as well. The level of commitment and hard work displayed is not just a reflection of Dr. Eruani’s vision, but it also fosters a strong sense of pride within the younger generation. It ignited a motivation in me to believe that we can, indeed, transform our state into a thriving industrial hub.

The AZIKEL REFINERY is a monumental step forward for Bayelsa State, promising to significantly bolster our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). It provides a sustainable pathway for developing local talent, creating jobs, and stimulating growth across various sectors, from logistics to manufacturing. The ripple effects of such an investment extend far beyond our borders, potentially influencing national economic stability by lessening Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined oil products. This is a bold stride towards self-sufficiency and economic independence.

Dr. Azibapu Godbless Eruani’s commitment to investing in the oil sector and his resolute stance on industrialising Bayelsa State are commendable. He embodies the entrepreneurial spirit, showcasing that with determination and vision, we can harness our local resources for the greater good. His legacy is not merely about building a refinery; it is about building a future, one where young people are empowered, communities thrive, and the Niger Delta emerges as a formidable force in Nigeria’s economic landscape.

In conclusion, Dr. Eruani is indeed a hidden treasure whose value is slowly being uncovered. We need to recognise and celebrate such individuals, as they pave the way for sustainable development and inspire others to follow suit. Let’s champion this journey towards progress and support the transformative vision he embodies for Bayelsa State and the entire Niger Delta.

Hon. Chief Mizodome Ibu
Secretary Obhan Emeyal Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs.
