Customs Boss’ Tenure Extension, Evidence of Transformational Leadership — Dr. Neliaku

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has described the tenure extension of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, as evidence of transformational leadership, noting that Customs within two years under his watch has witnessed series of innovative initiatives that are making the difference across global customs ecosystem.

NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku in a congratulatory letter on Thursday in Abuja said Mr. Adeniyi, former Vice President of the Institute and currently Vice Chairman, Body of Advisers of the Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG), has deepened and institutionalised professionalism in public service.

“The Comptroller-General upon assumption of office has effectively demonstrated that a vision backed by right attitude will yield positive outcomes. What we see today in Customs is a turnaround and progressive shift from the past anchored on passion to serve and add value, with utmost sense of commitment to national development”, he stated.

Dr. Neliaku stated that the CGC’s achievements, especially in the areas of improved interactions between passengers and Customs officials at the nation’s airports, the deployment of indigenous technology system to enhance operational efficiency, effective stakeholders engagement and other innovations, were results of practical application of Public Relations strategies.

He expressed confidence that the next one year in office will be an opportunity for the Customs’ boss to consolidate on his plethora of achievements, not only for the Nigeria’s Customs but also for the global customs in his capacity as Chairperson of World Customs Organisation (WCO).
