Communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Bayelsa State Caretaker Committee held tonight, May 23, 2025, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State

The Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, under the leadership of George Turnah, MON, held an emergency meeting on the night of Friday, 23rd May 2025. The primary purpose of the meeting was to address urgent matters concerning the Party’s activities and schedule.

After extensive deliberation, the Committee resolved to postpone the official opening of the new State Secretariat of the Party in Yenagoa, which was originally scheduled for Monday, 26th May 2025. This postponement is necessary due to the scheduling of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Party on Tuesday, 27th May 2025.

The Committee encourages all Party faithful, supporters, and indeed members of the public to take note of this change in schedule. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this postponement may cause.

Furthermore, the Committee wishes to emphasize that the office of the Governor is a revered institution and must be accorded the desired and deserved respect at all times. The PDP, under the leadership of George Turnah, MON, will henceforth not rise in defense of any official or individual found wanting or expressing views that undermine the exalted office of the Governor of Bayelsa State. The same applies to unguarded statements or public commentary tailored toward disparaging or disrespecting the person and office of the Governor.

The Party owes it as a duty to protect and safeguard the sanctity of the office of the Governor of Bayelsa State, who doubles as the leader of the Party in the State. This commitment extends to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the leadership of the Party in the State. It is the expectation of the Party that members, supporters, associates, and followers conduct themselves with the highest decorum and sense of responsibility at all times.

The Committee, therefore, charge Party faithful to commit to reinforcing solidarity and respect within our ranks as we work towards our common goals.
