Appreciation to the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State

Following my letter of appeal to our amiable Governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, regarding the need for enhanced security and the protection of lives and property in the state capital, I was both surprised and deeply honoured to receive an invitation this morning from the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State, CP Alonyenu Francis Idu.
To my astonishment, the invitation was not for interrogation, but rather for a familiarization tour to witness first-hand the commendable efforts being made by the Bayelsa State Police Command. I was truly impressed by the level of dedication and professionalism exhibited by the Commissioner and his team, who are working tirelessly around the clock to ensure the safety of all citizens.
I must sincerely commend CP Alonyenu Francis Idu for his exceptional leadership and innovative approach to policing. It is clear that he is a forward-thinking officer committed to achieving lasting peace and security in our state. While there are still challenges, including the presence of a few bad elements within the system, I am confident in the Commissioner’s resolve to address these issues decisively.
I am particularly grateful for the ongoing deployment of CCTV and drone infrastructure across the state—an initiative made possible by the Commissioner’s commitment and the invaluable support of His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri. These efforts are not only commendable but vital to enhancing surveillance and proactive policing.
To the criminal elements within the state, I offer a word of caution: the law is vigilant, and the days of impunity are coming to an end. It is time to embrace peace and lawful living.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to CP Alonyenu Francis Idu for his humility and dedication, and to Governor Douye Diri for his unwavering support for the security agencies in Bayelsa State.
Yours sincerely,
