Today, I Had the Honour of Receiving Peace FC of Akaba at My Yenagoa Residence.

As a former player and assistant coach of Peace FC, it was a heartfelt moment welcoming the team I once played alongside — now advancing proudly into the Round of 32 of the Prosperity Cup, among over 300 participating teams.

Led by Coach Ben Silas Ogbara and Chairman Zimbovie Timbiri, the team expressed their appreciation for my earlier support: providing transportation, jerseys, and training equipment. I’m humbled by their gratitude and even more inspired by their passion and discipline.

I was particularly moved to hear that one of our players has been scouted for a professional contract — this is what grassroots empowerment looks like, and I’m proud to be part of their journey.

In response to their visit, I have approved their financial requests and pledged continued support — not just for logistics but for the spirit of unity, discipline, and excellence they represent.

Football is not just a game — it’s a tool for peace, development, and youth engagement. To the youths of Akaba and beyond: let us continue to respect and support constituted authorities. It’s only through unity and mutual respect that we can truly enjoy the dividends of democracy.
