I am compelled by manifest circumstances to draw the attention of the public to a sinister move by argents of the prosperity government headed by a senior police officer in Government House, Bayelsa State and a Lawyer under the employment of the Douye Diri Administration to frame me up, including planting guns in my house to effect a possible arrest and prosecution aimed at arm-twisting me over by strong remarks against the Bayelsa state government during the NEW Associate’s Mega rally which was almost truncated by gun men.

You may recall that before the shooting at the rally, there was a sequence of events which demonstrated Governor Douye Diri’s serious opposition to the NEW Associate Mega rally and many frantic efforts where made to stop it.

On March 2024, the governor in a Security Council meeting directed that the pro-Wike rally in solidarity with President Tinubu must not hold.

That statement emboldened his supporters to organize a counter rally on the 12th of April in same venue which we’d chosen for our event.

As law abiding citizens, after due consultations, we shifted the NEW Associate rally to 26th April to avoid any collateral damage and to pave the way for the pro-Diri rally to take place.

Curiously, there was no pro-Diri rally on that day, rather, the so called organizers also shifted their rally to 26th April; the same new date chosen by the NEW ASSOCIATE. Evidently, it became clearer that they were only looking for trouble.

Of course, it remains a mystery to us that the Governor of the State, His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri who should be the Chief Security Officer of the State, took no steps or made any efforts to address the numerous threats issued by individuals and groups loyal to him, despite several alarms and intelligence shared by the leadership of the NEW Associates.

I reiterate that actors of the Prosperity government have some explanations to make to Nigerians. If a child dies in the morning after a witch cries at night, one need not ask many questions to determine who the culprit is. The answer is clear.

I mince no word when I said the Governor is not a democrat. In a democracy, the people have a right as provided in the constitution to freely associate and I wonder why a peaceful assembly has become a problem or threat to peace in a democracy. These are attributes of a despotic leader and I stand by my word.

As for the senior police officer and his other agents of the prosperity government, I’ve credible intelligence of all the meetings and the plans to frame me up simply because I spoke the truth. When the truth was favorable to the government which I labored so hard for in the past 5years, I was applauded, now it’s against the government, you want to criminalize me.

I’ve committed no crime and neither am I a criminal. My record of public service is an open documentary. Throughout my adult life, I have been an advocate of peace and development. I’ve put my life on the line in speaking out against oppression, injustice and the victimization of our people, and it is not now that I would be intimated from airing those strong views.

If there is sufficient reason that my remarks are contrary to the laws of the land, I should be formally invited by the police and I’ll gladly honor the invitation to give a detailed explanation, including recordings of all the meetings held by agents of the Prosperity government to truncate the NEW Associate rally.

If the due process is not followed, let me place it on record that if anything happens that will undermine my safety, security and life, the senior police officer working with the Governor of Bayelsa state, whose identity I have revealed to my lawyers should be held responsible.

I shall in due course write a formal complaint letter to the IGP and Police Service Commission over this sad developments.
