I, HON. WISDOM KIERIBO, JOIN CONCERNED YOUTHS OF BAYELSA STATE TO ADDRESS POLITICAL TENSIONS AND URGE UNITY
On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, I had the privilege of joining the Concerned Youths of Bayelsa State at the NUJ Press Center in Yenagoa, where youth leaders from all three senatorial districts came together to deliberate on recent political developments, particularly those surrounding an emerging political group known as The New Associates.
I must commend the organizers for initiating such a timely and thoughtful gathering. As a proud son of Bayelsa and someone deeply invested in the peace and progress of our state, I am encouraged to see our youths rising in unity, determined to protect the values we hold dear.
In my address, I cautioned against the increasing use of inflammatory language—especially when directed at high-ranking government officials, including the esteemed office of the Governor. Such utterances, often made without due reflection, threaten to erode the peace, unity, and socio-economic harmony that we have enjoyed under the Prosperity Administration led by His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri.
We must remember that our words carry weight. As young leaders and future torchbearers, we have a responsibility to foster dialogue that builds bridges, not burns them. Our Governor has consistently demonstrated inclusivity and a deep commitment to infrastructure and development, connecting the heart of Yenagoa to the furthest communities of Bayelsa State.
I also used the occasion to express my sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri—a man of peace, a unifier, and a tireless champion of inclusive governance.
To the leaders and coordinators of this initiative, I say well done. Let us continue to stand together in unity and mutual respect as we move into another crucial political season. Our strength lies in our ability to speak with one voice, to protect what we’ve built, and to build even stronger foundations for the future.
