Breaking News: University of Africa Toru-Orua Wins Gold Medal in 60kg Judo

The University of Africa Toru-Orua has made a remarkable start at the ongoing FISU trials in Jos, Plateau State capital. Master Bodou Durham Vincent, a judo athlete from the university, won a gold medal in the 60kg category.

*Master Bodou’s Journey to Gold*
Master Bodou’s path to victory was impressive, with knockout wins over:
– Odu Lawrence (UNN) in the first fight, which lasted less than a minute
– Kukoyi Ibrahim (LASU) in the second fight
– Losa Tamo (UNLAG) and Suleman Muhd (ABU) in subsequent fights

*A Historic Moment for UAT*
This achievement marks a historic moment for the University of Africa Toru-Orua, as it is their first time participating in a national sports competition. Master Bodou expressed his excitement and gratitude to God, Coach Ada Gwegwe, Dr. Timi Igoli, and his personal coach for their support.

*Coach Ada Gwegwe who is Head of Sports at the University of Africa, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Ebobrah, and the entire management staff for their support, which led to this victory. He also appealed for more support in developing sports facilities in the university community.

Master Bodou Durham Vincent has secured his spot to represent Nigeria at the FISU World University Games in Germany. The University of Africa is participating in two events: judo and swimming, with the swimming athletes set to kick-start their campaign tomorrow Thursday 10th April 2025
