Activities Marking The National Police Day in Bayelsa state.

The Nigeria Police Force is set to mark its inaugural National Police Day on April 7, 2025, at Eagle Square, Abuja and Bayelsa state is set with activities.

BAYELSA STATE POLICE COMMAND IS SET TO MARK THE MAIDEN NATIONAL POLICE DAY

The Bayelsa State Police Command is set to make National Police Day an annual tradition, recognizing the police force critical role in maintaining safety and supporting the development of the state.

In line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode A. Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on the celebration of National Police Day, the Bayelsa State Police Command is pleased to announce its preparation for the inaugural commemoration of this significant event. This initiative is designed to honor the dedication and sacrifices of police officers, enhance community relations, and strengthen public trust in law enforcement.

The National Police Day, scheduled for 7th April 2025, will feature a series of community outreach programs across the state, reinforcing the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to public service and engagement. The planned activities include:

1. Sanitation and Cleanup of Public Places: To promote a clean and healthy environment, officers will participate in a statewide sanitation exercise. Key public areas such as Swali Market, Tombia Roundabout, and Opolo Market will be cleaned, encouraging residents to maintain proper sanitation and hygiene. This activity is scheduled for 4th April 2025.

2. Town Hall Meeting with Stakeholders
On 4th April 2025, a high-level dialogue session will be held with community leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, security agencies, and other key stakeholders. The theme for the discussion is: “Community and the Police: Strengthening Cooperation for Enhanced Security and Effective Service Delivery.”
This meeting will serve as a platform for discussions on security concerns, crime prevention strategies, and building stronger cooperation between the police and the community.

3. Free Medical Outreach
On 4th April 2025, the Bayelsa State Police Command will offer free medical services to member of the public at Swalli market. This initiative aims to improve public health and demonstrate the Nigeria Police Force commitment to humanitarian service.

4. School Outreach to Campaign Against Cultism, Violent Crime, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), Gangsterism, and Other Social Vices
On 7th April 2025, officers will visit schools and public spaces across Bayelsa State to educate students and youths on the dangers of cultism, violence, gangsterism, and other criminal activities. The objective is to guide young individuals toward making responsible choices and becoming law-abiding citizens.

The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Police Command, CP Alonyenu Francis Idu, has expressed his enthusiasm for this landmark event. He emphasized the Nigeria Police Force ongoing dedication to ensuring security, fostering public trust, and promoting community well-being.

The general public is invited to participate in these activities and collaborate with the police in building a safer, crime-free, and prosperous society.
