The Supreme Court has dismissed Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara appeal challenging the legitimacy of the Amaewhule-led Assembly
Rivers Political Update: The Supreme Court has dismissed Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara appeal challenging the legitimacy of the Amaewhule-led Assembly. The court also fined Governor Fubara 2 million Naira.

The dismissal was based on the withdrawal of the suit by Governor Fubara’s counsel, Yusuf Ali. Essentially, by withdrawing the suit, Governor Fubara’s team failed to challenge the facts presented by the respondents, which included the Rivers State House of Assembly and 12 lawmakers.
This ruling upholds an earlier judgment made by the Federal High Court on January 22, which nullified the Rivers State 2024 budget on grounds that it was not presented before a legally recognized Assembly.
