General Ibena Rufus Salvation led a delegation to visit HRM Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi (A.K.A General Young Shall Grow

As the National Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP) Phase 2, I, Ibena Rufus Salvation, had the honor of leading a delegation of Phase 2 leaders on a two-day visit to one of the Big 5 and a key initiator of the Niger Delta struggle in Phase 1, Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi (A.K.A General Young Shall Grow cum (HRH) Eyewei (V)), at his country home in Azuzama, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

On the first day, we visited to extend our heartfelt condolences to HRH Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi on the passing of his beloved father, who lived to the remarkable age of 98. This was a moment to stand in solidarity with a leader who has played a significant role in our struggle. I assured him of our unwavering support and pledged to join him in celebrating the life of his father once the funeral arrangements are finalized.

The second day of our visit was strategic and impactful, as we engaged in critical discussions with General Young Shall Grow regarding the progress of the Presidential Amnesty Program and the way forward for the Niger Delta. Key areas of focus included:

Assessing the current state of the Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP) under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and PAP Administrator Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, ensuring that the program continues to positively impact beneficiaries.

Strengthening our collective support for the administration to sustain peace, security, and meaningful development in the Niger Delta.

Fostering unity among Niger Delta leaders to attract tangible progress to our communities and ensure a stronger, more prosperous region.

During our deliberations, Dr. Selky Kile Torughedi commended my leadership, humility, and respect for those who paved the way in the Niger Delta struggle. He emphasized the importance of consultation and collaboration in driving meaningful change and assured us of his unwavering support for our efforts.

In response, I expressed my deep gratitude for his hospitality, brotherly support, and leadership. I reaffirmed my commitment to humility, inclusive governance, and respect for the sacrifices made by those who came before us.

To further strengthen our collective mission, I announced plans to convene a stakeholders’ summit, bringing together key beneficiaries and leaders to strategize on the next phase of our journey. Our goal remains unity, progress, and a Niger Delta that thrives in peace and development.

This visit was more than just a meeting—it was a reaffirmation of our shared vision, a strengthening of bonds, and a clear statement of our commitment to unity, stability, and growth. The road ahead is clear, and together, we will continue to build a better future for the Niger Delta.

Together, we move forward.
