13-year-old boy drowns in Lagos beach
A 13-year-old boy, Kelvin Onyengba, drowned during a hangout at the Alatise beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about noon on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, when the boy went swimming with five of his friends.
A police source told Punch that the tragedy occurred on February 27 adding that the boy, Kellvin, died as a result of the sea’s waves.
“The mother of the boy said that the wave of the water swept her son. According to her, he went out with five of his friends to swim and hang out, but unfortunately, the boy did not come back to his parents,” the police source said.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident said detectives from the area visited the scene, adding that the family of the deceased still awaited the missing body
“The scene of the incident was visited by detectives from the division while the family was waiting for the body to emerge from the sea,” the PPRO added.
