Suspected herders kill four in Benue community

At least four people were killed and two others injured in Imana village of Ikobi council Ward in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.

A village elder, Atule Amodu, who confirmed the incident to the Daily Trust on Friday, February 16, 2024, said the gunmen suspected to be herders invaded the community on Wednesday night.

“They (armed herders) killed four persons and injured one. They invaded the people there. The people are surrounded by hills. That was how they took them unawares and began to kill them. The attackers are armed herders,” he said.

“This year if you come to our place there is hunger because we can no longer go to farm. Our wives are now going about looking for food.

Barrister Eche Akpoko, Chairman of Apa Development Association, who also confirmed the attack to the publication said so far four corpses have been recovered. Spokesperson of the police in Benue, SP Catherine Anene, however, said she was not aware of the attack.
